On July 2, 2019, at approximately 11:03 pm, Mar-Mac Police assisted the Prairie du Chien Police Department with a hit and run accident that occurred in Prairie du Chien. During the course of their accident, Prairie du Chien Police identified the vehicle and the driver. Contact was made with Joshua R. Lewis at his McGregor residence. Subsequent to the investigation, a search warrant was applied for and executed. A complaint and affidavit was filed accusing Lewis of Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense (serious misdemeanor).
On July 4, 2019, at approximately 12:53 am, Mar-Mac Police initiated contact with a group of individuals observed consuming alcoholic beverages at the overlook on Emma Big Trail, in Marquette. During the contact, one individual was found to be under the age of 21. Peyton A. Goetschel, from Elkhart, Indiana, was cited for Underage Possession.
On July 5, 2019, at approximately 1:57 pm, Mar-Mac Police was informed a runaway juvenile from Prairie du Chien was observed on US Highway 18, near Roundhouse Addition, in Marquette. In an attempt to apprehend the runaway juvenile, the juvenile fled from the officer and climbed a rock embankment. The officer spoke with the juvenile and was safely able to remove the juvenile from the embankment. The juvenile was taken to the District’s office and released to the parents.
On July 6, 2019, at approximately 1:30 pm, found property was given to a Mar-Mac Police Officer during the Independence Day Parade, in Marquette. The property is described as a small baggy containing a green plant like substance. If anyone lost a small baggy containing a green plant like substance during the parade, the owner is encouraged to contact the Mar-Mac Police District.
On July 7, 2019, at approximately 6:47 pm, Mar-Mac Police responded to a disturbance involving a gun on Brown Street, in Marquette. During the investigation, a dog, owned by Heather Gilberts, had entered a neighbor’s yard. While the dog was in the neighbor’s yard, the neighbor felt threatened by the dog’s behavior and warned the dog would shot. An altercations ensued between Gilberts and the neighbor. Gilberts was arrested and transported to the Clayton County Jail. Complaint and affidavits were submitted accusing Gilberts of Assault (simple misdemeanor) and Animal at Large (simple misdemeanor). Mar-Mac Police was assisted by the Prairie du Chien Police Department, the Monona Police Department, and the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.
On July 30, 2019, at approximately 1:02 pm, Mar-Mac Police executed a search warrant at 217 Center Street, in McGregor, pertaining to an animal neglect investigation. Three pets were recovered and are receiving care through Critters Crusaders and the Cedar Valley Humane Society. The case is under investigation.
On July 30, 2019, at approximately 3:14 pm, Mar-Mac Police received a burglary report that occurred at the Boatels-McGregor Marina. The incident is under investigation and undisclosed property was stolen.
