Police respond to an incident involving a knife

On November 16, 2019, at approximately 8:49 pm, the Marquette – McGregor Police Department responded to the parking lot of Casino Queen, in Marquette, pertaining to a theft which resulted in a knife being displayed.

An officer observed the vehicle involved and initiated a high risk traffic stop at the intersection of Marquette Drive and 1st Street.  Additional officers with the Prairie du Chien Police Department responded and assisted in securing the occupants of the stopped vehicle.

During the investigation, Brandon L. Burdick, of Prairie du Chien, is accused of stealing money from Derek D. White.  White confronted Burdick in the Casino Queen’s parking lot.  During their confrontation, White is accused of displayed a knife.  White was located in the Casino Queen’s parking lot and immediately detained.

White and Burdick were arrested and transported to the Clayton County Jail.  Complaint and affidavits were filed accusing White of Willful Injury – Causing Bodily Injury (class C felony) and Going Armed with Intent (class D felony).  Burdick is accused of Theft 5th Degree (simple misdemeanor) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor).

This incident remains under investigation and no additional information will be released.  Additional responding agencies included the Monona Police Department and the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.
