On December 23, 2019, at approximately 3:18 pm, the Mar-Mac Police Department was notified of an accident involving a pick-up and a semi on US Highway 18, near Marquette Drive, in Marquette.
A 2011 Ford Ranger, operated by Dean D. Gunderson, of Monona, was traveling west on US Highway 18. Gunderson reported he had fallen asleep while driving causing the Ford Ranger to cross the yellow traffic line into the oncoming traffic lane. The Ford Ranger collided with the rear axles of a trailer being towed by an eastbound 2015 Kenworth semi, operated by Rollin S. Brookhart, of Fennimore, Wisconsin.
Gunderson reported minor injuries and was transported to Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin by Mar-Mac EMS.
The accident is under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. Responding to the scene also included McGregor Hook and Ladder, the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, the Prairie du Chien Police Department, Bud’s Towing, and Bob’s Towing.
