Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest in Marquette

Marquette, IA – On January 28, 2025, at approximately 1:09 PM, a Mar-Mac Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of a Wisconsin man for possession of marijuana.

While on routine patrol in the 200 block of Pleasant Ridge Road, an officer observed a silver 2014 Ford Focus traveling at a speed greater than the posted 25 MPH limit.  Radar confirmed the vehicle was moving at 38 MPH.

The driver, identified as Joshua Adam Czap, denied speeding but admitted to driving approximately 50 MPH in the posted 25 MPH zone.  Upon initial contact, the officer detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.  When questioned, both Czap and a female passenger denied the presence or use of marijuana.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a rolled marijuana blunt containing a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana was found.

Czap was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana and transported to the Clayton County Jail.

Czap was charged with Possession of Marijuana 1st Offense and cited for speeding.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
